Yesterday I did the simplest thing. Cut a beef roast in two halves so it would fit in the crockpot and added about an inch of water and a stock cube to it. It was on for about ten hours and I didn't touch it. The meat made its own juices.  Come serving time, I fried up some mushrooms and onions, made a brown gravy with the juices, sliced the beef in thin strips and served it with fries like an open sandwich.

Okay, I forgot to say I did baste it a few times in the crockpot. So I touched it but only a little!
