According to a new study, you can break their leg doing that! Heck, I did that with my own and my parents did it with me. I never knew it was so dangerous but what he says makes sense. quote:
Out of the 58 fractures in kids under the age of 18, he found that 13 were sustained on slides. And every one of those injuries occurred when a toddler was riding on the lap of an adult or an older sibling, Gaffney [a pediatric orthopedist] reported this month in a study published in the Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics. “If a toddler is riding by himself and gets his leg stuck against the side of the slide, he can stop himself pretty easily,” Gaffney explains. “But with the parent’s weight added in, you’ve got greater velocity and momentum and it’s harder to stop. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32880360/ns/health-kids_and_parenting/

Oh, no really diane! How horrible. I can remember a few times getting my foot caught on a slide and it being bent back a bit when it was my sister and I going down it together but never to that extent. Of course we were both around the same build so it wasn't like having an adult there. C Me neither Christine, I was shocked.

Wow....I never thought of that but it certainly makes sense. I used to do it with my kids as well. I guess I better keep that in mind if I ever get any grandchildren.

I guess that makes sense, though I always thought she was safer in my lap. I guess I've lost my excuse for going down the slide!

Ha! I'll sure you could sneak a quick shot of it when no-one was looking. Or claim you're doing a test run for safety before putting the wee one on it.
