76 US kids have died of swine flu, 16 in the last week alone. Compare that to between 46-88 annually of normal flu says the CDC.

With swine flu cases increasing throughout most of the country, more deaths are likely, Dr. Anne Schuchat said at a press conference Friday.

She noted that 37 states now are reporting widespread swine flu cases, up from 27 a week ago. A week ago, reports suggested that cases might be leveling off and even decreasing in some areas of the country, but that did not turn out to be an enduring national trend.

76 US kids have died of swine flu, 16 in the last week alone. And what's really scary is it's probably higher because they have chosen to stop tracking it properly. The CDC's allowing different states to use different methods.

My suspicious mind tells me it's so the population doesn't panic at how widespread it is. But how can they plan when they don't know what they're up against? They can't. It's insane.

ATLANTA - U.S. health officials have lost track of how many illnesses and deaths have been caused by the first global flu epidemic in 40 years.

And they did it on purpose.
Government doctors stopped counting swine flu cases in July, when they estimated more than 1 million were infected in this country. The number of deaths has been sitting at more than 600 since early September. Health officials had previously counted lab-confirmed cases, though the tally was skewed because many people who got sick never were tested.
