After all my complaining about the heat, I want to say a big yeehaw for the last week of open windows, cool nights, no AC running and daily highs of 80 degrees max. It's been so NICE!! I'm even taking my books I need to review outside to sit and enjoy it.

I'm glad someone is getting nice weather.  LOL  We haven't seen summer yet.  Our July was the third coldest on record.  Our highest temperature was 87 and our coldest was 44.  For the most part I think it was in the mid 60's to lower 70's during the day.  They are predicting warmer than normal temps September through November.

The first time we camped (last week in June, first week of July) we couldn't even go swimming.  My kids tried to water ski with wet suits on and they just couldn't handle the cold water.  The second time we camped (middle of August) the water had finally warmed up enough to swim comfortably for the first 3 days, then the cold and rain came and it was all over.  LOL  It was in the 50's the day we left.

Coldest summer I can remember!!!

I aim to please, Diane. :D

Thelma, that sounds like a summer I'd like LOL. I can't handle the roasting days at all. Shame the kids couldn't enjoy the swimming though. I heard the other day that because of the ice storm we had in Jan (can't believe it was so long ago!) we've to expect a bad winter with early snow. How they fathom that I don't know but am hoping it's not.

Christine I love Fall! It's so beautiful here then. If I didn't grow a garden in Spring it would be my favorite. :)

I LOVE the Fall.  This week it's supposed to be in the low 70's with almost no humidity!!

The trees can't start changing fast enough for me. I love the colors. We've been in the 70s and even 60s at night but are back up in the 80s the last few days.

we're in the 8-s this week, but last week we were well into the 100s ... but it's typical for so cal - it will be up again before it is ready to cool off for the season.  we don't usually hit autumn temps until november

It doesn't sound like you get much of a break temperature wise between winter and spring there, diane! I enjoy seeing the seasons change. I'd miss Fall days terribly and it's so beautiful here then. I thought after the devastation of the ice storm it would take forever for the trees to recover but their resilience has amazed me. I must take pics once all the fall colors are at their best.

it's always back and forth here, I have yet to find a place with weather like that of california ... although, even my joyous dry summers have changed over the last few years.  I dont do well in humidity, I have a hard time breathing and overall I am just miserable, which is why I have chosen to stay here.  but the tail end of this summer has been absolutely ... icky!  lol
our fall is short lived, but this last week have enjoyed weather under 90* (yes, that IS fall in so cal).  we usually start out in the upper 50s and warm up to 80 or so, then drop back down by nightfall.
winters ... some christmas days have reached 80*, but winters don't usually fall far below 40*.  what is "freakin cold" to me tends to be "sweater weather" for my east coast friends.

I think I would love it in California!  I do like the Fall in New England but I would trade the snow and yuckiness of winter and spring for nice dry, warm days anytime.  If only...

Heck, we're supposed to be at 39 this weekend overnight. The weather is so haphazard right now that I never know what I'm going to wake up to. One day you're out in your shorts and the day you're pulling on the jeans. Tomorrow it might be the snorkel LOL. Today we're under a flash flood watch from 7 pm tonight until 1 pm tomorrow. We've got severe thunderstorms predicted for all night and all day tomorrow and already had some bad ones early this morning.

So if you don't see me over the weekend, it'll mean power outages from flooding. My one consolation is that we're on a slope, so whenever it rains heavily it pours down the road that runs alongside us and across the drive then down into the forest on the other side which has a steep incline. I'm hoping that will be enough to keep the worst of it away from my door.

Thank you! And we did. So far, so good but what a wild night it was! I was more worried about flooding than outages. After the ice storm I consider any power cut short of a week a blessing LOL. I just checked and we have a river flood warning for our county from Sat morning until Sunday afternoon so we're not out of the woods yet. The river's not in our immediate vicinity though so I'm not worried about that too much.
