Not it's not, stella. If you were mine I'd do the same. Better safe than sorry. It's too easy for an opportunist to see your mum leave and come in the house thinking it was empty. What would you do then?
And if she's only popping to the shops, why is it such a big deal to you to go since it's not more than a few minutes? You should think yourself lucky your mum cares so much about you. Many parents don't.
