What kind of sense of humor do you have? I'd say mine was quirky and quite dark sometimes. I love dry wit.

hmm ... definitely not the norm, I guess you could call it dark. when I worked at the group home I found we all would laugh at things that made other people cringe. I think it was our way of dealing with the horror stories that came through our doors. otherwise, I think I have a pretty good sense of humor

I think when you work in a high stress environment or job like that you have to have some kind of release valve, diane. I heard that policemen have the darkest kinds of humor for that very same reason. It gets them through the day.

exactly! I have a friend who is a police officer and his brother is a firefighter. the police officer rarely lets his humor slip around his children and friends, but when you get the two brothers together (followed by a little alcohol), you begin to see a touch of what they go through in their day to day lives through their humor. to me, I take it as it is ... a release. I laugh because I can see THEIR humor in it. I think it makes some people, who are not around them as often, a little uncomfortable.

I agree! My cousin is a police officer and his humor is far to the dark side! I think it is how they deal with the stress of their job and the darkness of those they are around on a constant basis....
