What day would you choose? I would say the day my baby brother was born. I remember how excited we were waiting for the news.

Wow, what a GREAT question!  If I could make it in my teens I would change not answering the phone when my best friend called (I was mad at him) he slept in his car and passed away.  I would definitely change that.

It was such a waste of a talented person. He has been greatly missed for over 20 years now.

Awww, what a shame. I'm sure he knows he is missed and wouldn't want you to dwell on it, Christine (((hugs))). I did a similar thing as a child. I didn't see my granny the day she died when we went to visit, just played in the yard instead. I must have been about 11. She'd been ill a long time and was staying with an auntie, so it wasn't unusual for us to be there every few days. I'll always regret that too.

I know, he definitely wouldn't, but yes, it is hard sometimes to let go. I can't even believe it was 23 years ago...where does time go???

Christmas Eve 1974!  LOL  I was 7 years old.  I used to LOVE Christmas, well......still do.  he he he  Anyway, my parents had the neighbor dress up like Santa and wander in the yard until we saw "him" through the picture window.  He came in the house and gave us snow shovels with a winter scene on them.  It was such a great Christmas...one I'll always remember.  Makes me wish I was a kid again.

That is SO COOL!!!! I wish someone had done something like that for us at that age. What gifts did you get? I bet you remember with that being such a special day. Let me see, 1974 toys....Lego, Magna Doodle, Pong, red Viewmaster thingy you put the discs in, kid's slideshow wall projector (think that was Fisher Price).

I just had a flashback trying to find 1974 toys to jog my own memory. No pun intended LOL. We had this! The flash cube on top spun when you pressed the button. The cord always got really twisted around your wrist and the loop was so short you couldn't have it looped around your wrist and still raise it to your eyes to "take a picture" at the same time .

Oh my....I was wrong!  The year was 1971!   I could have sworn I was older.  I look older than 4 in this picture.  Maybe my mom got the date wrong or I could have mistyped the year when I scanned them to my computer.  In any case....this was the Christmas.  LOL  It's Christmas Eve so there are no gifts under the tree yet, just the shovel I am holding from Santa himself.  he he he  That's me on the far right.  No....the sister on the left and I are not twins.  LOL  My mom always dressed us the same for some reason or another.

Ya know what....I really don't remember what gifts I got that year.  The shovel was the thing that really stuck with me because it was "hand delivered".

I always wanted to do the same with my kids (have Santa come in person) but I never could find anyone to do it.   Someday maybe I can do it for my grandkids.

OMG!  What did dad do to the top of that Christmas tree?!  LMAO!!!!  He butchered it!

LOL, what a great pic!! Love it. The fairy must have been overweight or something, stop blaming your dad.  Or he thought the ceiling was higher than it was LOL.

Thelma, I can't believe you're not twins!! You must be very close in age. And hey, your mum did what mine did too LOL. I have a younger sis. 16 months between us and we always had matching outfits. The one thing she would do occasionally is get us the same thing but in different colors, like I'd have a pink shirt and she'd have it in orange.

I hated that we wore the same stuff, but my sister hated it more because she got to wear hers then mine when she grew into it. That must have been a 70's thing. You don't see sisters dressed the same like that anymore, do you? Or have I just not noticed.

Gotta love a Christmas tree weighed down with trimmings LOL. I hate these minimalistic ones and throw as much on mine as it can stand without falling over.

Awww, who'd not want to be a Santa for kids? If I was a guy I'd jump at the chance to do that. My husband got coaxed into doing it one year at work and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

You know what Fiery, the neighbor that played Santa for us WAS a woman.  he he he  She had white makeup on her face....kind of made Santa a wee bit scary looking.  HA!  I know my mom has a photo of "Santa" but I'm not sure I've got it.  If I find it I'll post it.

My sister is 14 months older than I am and I was the lucky one that got all the hand-me-downs.  My mother would do the same thing with the colors too....my sister would get the girly colors, I'd get the boyish colors.  LOL  Might have had something to do with the fact that I was 'tomboy'.

My dad was big on tinsel.  "The more the better." he'd always say. LOL

That's awesome that your hubby played Santa.  I'm glad he enjoyed it.

Yay for Mrs. Santa! I'll remember that if anyone needs one and assumes it has to be a guy. And I'm glad me and my sis weren't the only ones that suffered that humiliation LOL.

Yep, he loved playing Santa. He'd be darn good at it too. He's great with kids. :)

Hey, your pic's not working anymore! Put it back, woman.
