Well, on the flip, while I agree it sounds forceful...I would have loved it. As an adopted kid I was already left once, why would I reach out again? I would be accepting and understanding though if my biological mother reached out though.

I do think that it should b left up to the child, but I think at age 13 they should b asked if they want to why wait till 18, me being a mother who lost her children an they was adopted, I feel like people can change an I think that all adopted children have the right to know their birth mother if she agrees. I made many mistakes when I was younger, but I miss my kids more then words can say an I hope one day they will wanna see me, an let me explain things. It takes a strong mother to rather live with her own pain a suffering every min of every day just so her children can have a better life!

tabby, I agree, it does and I can't imagine how hard it must be to give up your children. The reason it's 18 is because that's the age when they are legally considered to be an adult. At 13, they are still immature and could say yes or no on any given day about whether they want to meet you based only on the mood they are in!

It's too big a decision to place on a child's shoulders at such a young age. And it's not your choice whether you can meet them, it's theirs. If they say no even though you want them to, that's it. So is it not better to wait until they are grown and can make a more thoughtful, mature decision? I think so.

I think an adopted child should be able to find his Blood parents, and brothers & sisters for free

Hmmm, while I am adopted and agree in theory, since it is a legal matter it seems nothing is free. This is what people do for a living so therefore they should be paid.

I wish it was free too, but it isn't...maybe someday when the searches become more and more popular and more mainstream.

one day my foster parents and me got into a fight i recall something specificly, i was never going to be adopted and called me stupid brat and that nobody will ever want me but 2 years later i was adopted and i tried to test my adoptive parents in every way but they truly love me, and yes i was very bad i knocked holes in the wall, i kicked, screamed till i lost my voice and all they ever did was hold me and tell me it was going to be okay thatis love that was a parent i should have had and p.s i was 12 years old when i got adopted i have been through 7 diffrent homes and they still took me in they do truly love me like all adoptive parents should

ive been adopted since i was 4 1/2 and i love it. i have contact with my birth dad and we see each other occasionally. i also have 2 half sisters who are thee best sisters ever. I have come to realise that no matter how much you mess up i life, someone is always there for you

myself and 2 of my sisters were adopted back in 1968,, very bad family,our relatives actually,, we were molested abused pyshically and emotionally. we were good kids,,was wondering if anyone out there may now what a sister and i need to do so be compensated for what we went through? They had 3 grown daughters of their own when they adopted us,,these daughters knew about the abuse that was happening, bc the father got his own daughter pregnant at young age,,their 2nd daughter left home very young got married she said so that the father would not do that to her, and their youngest daughter has never lived out of the parents home. I have heard about a Tort Law, but have no idea how to go about things,,the father passed about 10 yrs ago, the mother just pasted 2 months ago. Can Anyone Help Us? Give give us some kinda idea as to also be envolved in will,,or anything? Thankyou,,,,Shannon
