If your teenage daughter seems exhausted all of the time and there doesn’t appear to be any other medical reason for it, your child may be suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). People who suffer from the disease are abnormally tired and have trouble just getting out of bed in the morning.

my daughter was diagnosed last year & we have had no help or support from her school what so ever they seem to think they have no need to help,she is due to take her exams this year & they are now saying that she may not be unable to sit them due to her low attendance, i informed them as soon as she was diagnosed that she may need extra help with her schooling so that she does not fall behind but at no time have they contacted me i kept phoning & i also have wrote letters to them but still no help so my daughters future lies in the balance all because her school which is turnford in cheshunt has been no help to my daughter what so ever

Hi lisa we are in exactly the same position with our 15 year old daughter. she has been ill for 3 years and the school are rubbish - they put even more stress on her and that makes her feel even worse as I am sure you know. We have really given up on the education side at the moment - hopefully as she gets older and better its something we will look at down the line. Hope things improve for you all soon.

Hi. My daughter is 17. Has had CFS March 2009. Diagnosed in Dec. 2009. She is homebound, meaning she does not go to school and has a tutor come to our home two times a week. 1.5 hours. It's actually ridiculous and does not in any way make up for the real instruction she would receive in school.

Make sure you get your girls tested for Lyme and other tick-borne illnesses. Contact the Lyme Diseases Association for doctors who know about these things.

My 15 yr. old daughter has been suffering for 1 1/2 yrs. It was just recognized with the CFS "label" a few months ago. She has entirely no energy or desire the leave the house. At times when we made her get out to attend social events, she's even worse for several days. Not only does the school lack understanding of the severity and limitations of the problem, many friends and co-workers are very judgmental and think she should "step up" and "get over it"! It's to the point now, that people are treating ME differently, as if I'm an enabling parent! This is an extremely frustrating and lonely illness. My child has NO real life.....who would CHOOSE that?????

Hi I am a teenage girl I was diagnosed with CFS when I was 13 and have had it for over two years now, I have created a blog about my experiences and things that have helped me manage my symptoms and get on my road to recovery.
