ChristineB -> Irritable (5/5/2009 2:53:41 PM)

Has anyone ever been super irritable for no reason?  I mean above and beyond the norm, with a flip of a switch.  I have been dealing with this all day and it is so weird.  I have no idea what it is, or why it is, just that it is.  Any thoughts?

dianerene -> RE: Irritable (5/5/2009 3:43:42 PM)

hmm ... I get that way, but I am also bi-polar and when i get irritated that way, it is usually the beginnings of an upward cycle - lol.  is there anything that is bugging you?  something that might make other issues rub you the wrong way?

The older I get the grumpier I get and the more I have on my plate to fit in to a day, the more likely I am to lose it. I hate it when I'm trying to plan out a million things in my head and someone just starts yapping about trivial things to me because it knocks me right off track and it takes me time to get back on it. I've asked my son a million times to say "do you have a minute" before launching into something but he doesn't and then accuses me of never listening to him! [:-] Heck, if I'm in the middle of working on something of course you don't get my full attention right away just by opening your mouth...drives me crazy! Working from home has its downsides. As I keep telling him, if I was in an office he wouldn't do it LOL. :)

Hmm, well I am cranky alot just because of life, money, life, money etc. but this was different than that.  It was like a switch and a rollercoaster ride.  I went from wanting to cry to wanting to scream...and then, just like that, it went away.  I literally felt a calmness come over me.  It was very strange...not like a normal cranky day at all.

Maybe you're menopausal? I think I am. I nearly cried today just talking about an old pet and it wasn't even a sad story! Honestly, the dumbest of things can set me off and it just sneaks up on me then pounces. One minute I'm fine, the next I've got tears rolling down my cheeks, and the next I'm fine again. I feel like tears are always just below the surface.

ChristineB -> RE: Irritable (5/11/2009 9:38:06 AM)

YES!  That's exactly how I feel!  I'm only 39 though so I'm not sure.  I know there is a pre menopausal syndrome which I swear I must have, but I don't know....it's awful whatever it is!  [;)]

fiery -> RE: Irritable (5/22/2009 2:34:39 PM)

Heck, I know a girl that went through it in her mid-20s. My gran didn't start her periods until she was 18 then was into menopause at 35. Age isn't always the best indication and though it's not common, it happens.

See if any of this helps:

OMG....that is so me!  I'm 41 and as time goes by it gets worse and worse.  I've chalked it up to pre-menopausal syndrome or severe PMS as it happens once a month, at the same time each month.  [;)]  I feel sorry for my family.  They've all pretty much learned to simply leave me alone when I "snap".  LOL  I'll be the first to admit I go "loony" but I'm also the first one to make fun of myself.[:o]

Did you ever see the episode on Everyone Loves Raymond where Debborah is PMSing?  One minute she's happy and laughing, the next minute she's screaming and soon after she's crying.  LMAO!  I love that episode because it reminds me of my myself. [:(]

I'm afraid it's just a fact of life for us women my dear. [:-]

fiery -> RE: Irritable (5/28/2009 8:37:18 PM)

I can go from zero to bananas in 60 seconds. Honestly, some days I listen to myself and think I'm nuts, even as I'm screeching LOL. I'm 43 so ripe for the mini paws as my pal called it too. I have a cousin with lupus too, just saw that was mentioned. I've only ever had one hot flash though so maybe not. I know I'm not myself, that's for sure.

Welcome btw Thelma, lovely to meet you. :) I never saw that episode and I love that show too! Must keep my eyes peeled for it.

Of course, I could just be grumpy and needing an excuse LOL.

ChristineB -> RE: Irritable (5/29/2009 1:04:34 PM)

Hmm, I dunno...I'm still grumpy and have given myself several pep talks.  Wish this would pass already! [;)]

fiery -> RE: Irritable (5/31/2009 1:12:16 PM)

I find the weather brightens me up. I hate all the dark dull days of winter and really enjoy this time of year when the heat's still just about bearable enough to be outside. Maybe you just need a stint outdoors, Christine. Haven't heard you mention going surfing recently, are you not doing that anymore?

ChristineB -> RE: Irritable (6/1/2009 6:16:19 PM)

I went ut a few weeks agoi, but you know what?  I was so tired that although the beach was nice, and very relaxing, it all felt melancholy to me.  I agree though, I think the weather has alot to do with it.

Plus, I just finished up my book, which was extremely draining and am getting the kinks out of my second book now. Maybe I just need sleeeeeep[sm=icon_zzz.gif]

fiery -> RE: Irritable (6/1/2009 11:36:54 PM)

Could be that you do just need a good long rest, sounds like you've been busy. It's not like you at all not to enjoy the beach a lot more.

I don't want to take this off-topic but would like to hear about your book. Could you start a new thread please about it? [:D] Thanks.

dianerene -> RE: Irritable (6/2/2009 11:44:30 AM)

I agree - wanna hear about the book =)

ChristineB -> RE: Irritable (6/3/2009 9:07:22 PM)

Thanks guys!  I started a thread on Book reviews.....I would love some feedback and would be happy to tell more.  I got a few protypes which I thought would be final versions...but alas, I made a few small changes (again)....would love some feedback....

And Yes, I am worried about the mood thing, but I tell ya, things have been weird, like full moon-ish.  Can't explain it, maybe a new thread?!?  Just odd days lately it seems...
Maybe I do just need sleep.
