This question was asked by the NYT and nobody seems to agree when and at what age it's okay.

quote:

For many parents, allowing a child to run around naked at home is perfectly natural, an expression of physical freedom that represents the essence of childhood, especially in the summer. But for others, unclad bodies are an affront to civility, a source of discomfort and a potentially dangerous attraction for pedophiles. These clashing sensibilities can create conflict, even when the nudity in question takes place at home.

Any thoughts?

I have no issues with children being naked, provided they are behaving appropriately.  my younger 2 daughters often come in from swimming, drop their suits and towels in the downstairs laundry room before heading up to their rooms to change or bathe.  the littlest always seems to be running around half dressed.  I don't put much thought to it, but I do notice my girls are MUCH more modest around people other than my husband and I.  even the littlest, who loves being undressed, will giggle and say "mooooooommmm" if I have her change clothes in the back of the car between school and soccer or dance.

Hmmm, our little one goes nakes from bath to his room and things like that.  He'll be 4 in Novemeber.  I guess probably soon we'll stop...like maybe around 5 or so...before he starts asking too many questions, lol.

I think it's okay in your own home until they get to around the age where they and/or you feel uncomfortable about it. For me that would be about 5. In front of visitors, I wouldn't want them doing it unless they were only about 2 or 3. But running from the bath and dropping costumes in the privacy of your own home amongst your family is okay to me. Of course we had an all girl household until the big gap when my brother came along and by then we were covering up anyway. I don't think I'd feel the same if there were both girls and boys in the house.
