Has anyone ever been hypnotized? What for? And did it work?

dianerene -> RE: Anyone been hypnotized? (7/28/2009 8:16:51 PM)

no, but I think it would be cool - lol

dianerene -> RE: Anyone been hypnotized? (7/30/2009 1:06:20 AM)

when are you doing it?  and for what??

ChristineB -> RE: Anyone been hypnotized? (7/30/2009 12:43:56 PM)

I'm going on Tuesday of next week.  Supposedly it may help me relax and let go of some anger.  He said he could make me think I'm surfing all day too, how funny is that?

We'll see.  There isn't much available online about it but he's a Ph.D (not that that matters) but I do trust him and he did answer alot of questions I had about it.

Time will tell I guess.  Gotta do something to shake this mood though.

Me, I have. On a stage. It's a long story that I ain't telling LOL. :)

You'll be dead easy to hypnotize because you've meditated in the past, Christine. It's the same type of sensation, of being there but not being there because you're at another level of consciousness. Just relax and enjoy it. It's hard to describe.

I'm excited.  I did ask about the stage thing, we have a group that comes near us that makes people bark like dogs and other silly stuff.  My Dr. said that is absolutely NOT possible.  He said people can't do anything under hypnosis that that they wouldn't do in a wakeful state.

That gave some comfort.  We'll see though, I'll definitely keep you posted!

That's true, they cannot make you do anything that you would see as against your natural instincts under hypnosis. There's a big difference from getting people to bark which your conscious mind may see as harmless fun as opposed to say stripping naked on a stage lol. I didn't do either btw. [:(]

I look forward to hearing all about it. It sounds like he's going to teach you visualizations for self-hypnosis that you can use anytime. You might find you don't need them though now you've stopped taking the Tylenol and aren't getting side effects from that. Natural sleep and rest is very recuperative.

Well, I have been sleeping like a champ!  Best sleep I think I have ever gotten actually.  I did get hypnotized yesterday though and it was nice.  Not a whole lot different than a relxation technique.  I was totally aware of everything I was saying and even heard cars on the street.

The weirdest thing though si today I am so sore!  I feel like I was at the gym yesterday!  I have No idea why?!?

dianerene -> RE: Anyone been hypnotized? (8/5/2009 1:13:47 PM)

hmmm ... maybe you were aware of what you were saying, but not of what you were doing?  lol  you were doing squats, lunges, sit ups ... [:(]

ChristineB -> RE: Anyone been hypnotized? (8/6/2009 12:03:13 PM)

Lol, nah, I was totally aware.  I have no idea and I am just as sore today!  Very strange.  Is good though, whatever is causing it...feels like I've been at the gym! [:D]

ROFL...maybe it was when he had you cleaning his house and making his dinner so he could finish early and relax.

oy, well I'm not sure it's Tylenol withdrawals at this point.  Going through tests now, low grade fever, abdominal pains, super high blood pressure.  Dr's don't seem to know what's going on!  All very frustrating!

fiery -> RE: Anyone been hypnotized? (8/27/2009 3:29:31 PM)

At least if they're testing, they're looking. That's what I say. :) Hopefully something will show up because you've not been 100% well for a long time now. The fever suggests an infection of some kind for sure. I'd be saying appendicitis but the pain's not acute and I don't know if that effects blood pressure. You can check out all your symptoms here.

Well, the verdict isn't 100% in but it's close.  They think I got into some contaminated fresh water, like maybe from our tiny blow up pool.  Oy vay.  I think my immune system has taken a holiday! Bad body!

dianerene -> RE: Anyone been hypnotized? (8/31/2009 1:30:11 PM)

oh wow!  well at least you have a place to start, right?  so is there something they can do?  or is it a just wait it out type of deal??  I hope you are feeling better
