What age do you think is too old to keep sharing a bath or shower with a child? I honestly never did it because mine was a boy and I wasn't comfortable with the idea but I know someone that did with her granddaughter until she was about 8.

when we stay at a hotel that doesnt have a BATH, I will still shower with my 5 year old, but otherwise all my children take their own showers or baths.  for me it's not comfortable or uncomfortable .. I just like to be alone in MY shower - lol!!  I did this with all my kids until they were old enough to shower alone ... I'm thinking 7 or 8??

I think as soon as I think they're capable of taking a shower/bath on their own it's okay. Like Diane said it wouldn't be a matter of appropriateness for me, just being able to bathe by myself. [:o]

I guess it's a lot to do with your own experiences as a kid too. My parents never did that with us which is a lot to do with why I don't like the idea of it. If I'd had a girl I don't think I'd be so uptight about it but with having a boy, it didn't feel right.

I think this is a decision based on personal comfortability.

Like Fiery, I was never comfortable bathing with my children.  It's a personal choice but I think some people take it too far.  I know of a father who used to shower with his daughters when they were teenagers.[sm=icon_surprised.gif]  They'd done it their entire lives and never gave it a second thought.  It might not feel 'out of the norm' for some but I found it to be inappropriate but that's just my thoughts.

Hmmm, I think at the very least, adolescence is a common sense place to draw the line! OMG! Shocking!

No no no no no no no. No. Sorry but that's downright creepy to me. What would be his reason for doing such a thing? I can't think of any that's not distasteful. The girls might not have known anything different but he's a grown man.
