I'm avoiding using the oven and heating up the house so what could I make instead of brownies and such? I'm not a fan of cold puddings really and was thinking maybe of some kind of quick stove top (or microwave) recipe preferably but cold will do in a pinch. I could kill for a fresh baked brownie though LOL.

we only use stove top pudding, the kids swear it tastes different, and they actually prefer to eat it when it's warm - lol.  jello is also good :)

we make popsicles out of juice, we used to make them in ice trays, but then someone gave me some popsicle molds to stick in the freezer.

my kids also like del monte fruit chillers (bought in the store), they are fresh fruit and juice that freeze like popsicles.

now I'm hungry - lol

Or maybe some fruit salad with frozen yogurt on it?  Or frozen grapes?

Nobody likes jello except me so I rarely make it. I might get some for myself though. Stove top pudding...I don't know what that is LOL. You mean like custards or something?

I haven't seen the del monte fruit chillers, they sound good! Where are they, around the canned fruit and such or in the freezer section? Thanks for the ideas!

I love fruit salad. Do you mean fresh or canned? I like fresh but it ends up costing a fortune to make. Frozen grapes? I didn't know you could freeze them. Do you just eat them right out the freezer like that or what? Tell me more. I enjoy grapes and usually end up throwing some out because they ripen too fast. Glad to hear you can freeze them!

frozen grapes are YUMMY!  I have been eating them since I was a kid -lol

stove top pudding is just your typical pudding (jell-o brand) but made on the stove.  many people find it to be a pain to cook it, so jell-o created the just add milk type.

Ahh gotcha. Well I guess I need to buy some grapes then and freeze them to make sure I'm in with the in crowd! Stove top pudding, I get it now. I'd call it custard where I come from. :) Thanks!

MMMM... yes frozen grapes are the best!  As for fruit salad I like it fresh but yes it gets expensive.  Sometimes in the fruit section you can find them pre-made.  They are a good variety and sometimes although expensive, a wee bit cheaper.

Find any what, grapes stuffed with coconut in them? I don't think I followed the conversation right there LOL. I wouldn't like that. I got a flyer in for the store and both green and red are on sale this week, so I'll remember.

How do you store them in the freezer, just in a ziploc or wrapped in foil or what?

Lol, I think Diane means she can't find any fruit platters that don't have cocnut?  Which is funny because out here I've seen one with it!  MMMM

As for the grapes, it depends.  Sometimes I just put them in a bowl in there, if I'm going to eat them right away.  If it's going to be more than a day or so I put them in a ziploc bag....so they don't get freezer stink.

lol - right, around here, all of the premade fruit salad has shredded coconut in it, which I don't mind, but no one in the family likes it.

we actually have a bin in our fridge that we use for meats (it has it's own humidity control), I throw the grapes in a bag and then toss them in that bin for a couple of days and they come out just barely frozen.  I find, with my sensitive teeth, that they are easier to eat that way than frozen in the freezer.

Ah I see. I was thinking how crummy a job that would be trying to stuff a coconut in a grape.

Christine, half open the top of a small box of baking soda and stand it upright in your freezer door. That'll absorb the freezer smell in no time then in a week or so, throw it out if it's really bad and replace it with a fresh one. I normally change mine out every few months. You can stir it in between times to bring the fresh soda to the top. Once you run out of fresh stuff coming to the top, change it.

I was wondering about the teeth! I don't want to break another one after taking a year and a half to work up the courage to get the last one fixed.

Lol, the teeth...hee hee hee....I don't think they ever freeze solid, they seem just cold, really cold.

I totally forgot about baking soda, I used to do that all the time!  Thanks for the reminder...must be getting old, lol

You're welcome. I was asking hubby last night about the grapes and he'd never heard of doing that either so we're both wanting to try it now. :)

You're welcome. I don't know why I don't make pancakes more often because we all really enjoy them. Cool whip and syrup is my favorite topping.

Okay guys,

My favorite and my granddaughter love's it I call it Oreo momalade
Crunch a bag of Oreo's layer them in a pan glass/steel whatever you perfer, take your favorite ice cream, I like Bryers Vanilla when I was in New Orleans Brown's Velvet was my favorite out here in Virigina its Bryers.  Slice the ice cream and lay it on top of the cookies, then take the hersey chocolate syrp and cover the ice cream I use a small spoon to spread it all over so you can't see the ice cream and then my favorite part, take the cool whip and gently spread it over the hershey chocolate where the you can't see it, place in freezer, when you serve slice like a cake it's very good, one time I ate have the pan by myself.
