potatotree -> RE: migraine during pregnancy (10/25/2009 11:44:42 PM)

I took fiorciet during my pregnancy for migraines, tried to keep it to a minimum, of course. Can't remember how often, but my two daughters -- now 20 and 14 years old -- were born healthy, grew up w/o any major medical problems, and are both thriving! Keep in mind that almost everything is FDA pregnancy Category C. Keeps them out of trouble with the lawyers. But all you migraineurs, take note: the first three months after you give birth might be rough sledding. Your estrogen level plummets, which trigger migraines for a lot of women. It was really hell for me, both times. Wish I had known then what I know now. I would have asked about some short-term estrogen supplements, assuming it would have been OK with the breatfeeding. They now have transdermal sprays and patches that deliver low doses but maybe enough to keep you leveled out.
