We have quite a few young family members that do not have their own email address. Would it be possible to allow for parents to set up user ID's and passwords for younger members? This might allow them to log in view photos of family members, play some of the great games, check out the family tree, participate in the  family discussions or even creating their own journal.  Thanks for allowing us to make suggestions, as I stated before we really our family forum. Thanks again.

Is there anyway to have an option to remove filters?  For example: I have about 10 photo galleries on my site all for different reasons.  My family sometimes forgets to expand the filter so they think I deleted their gallery and then create a new one.  Being able to have the option to remove a filter (or at least set its defaults)  would certainly be helpful.  TIA

You can already do that if you as the admin add's them.  Or if you give the parents admin rights.  I have several younger children added to my site simply for the family tree aspect as well as playing some games.

Great. I tested this out and it does work. I didn't realize you didn't need to have an email address to log in. I will let everyone know. Thanks for clearing that up.

I think you can make the actual homepage of FamilyLobby more appealing.  The appearance was not attention grabbing and did not get me right away. 

Some feature that I think could need some enhancement is the family tree and more border options when choosing layout

Just suggestions:

-allow the ability to choose different music for different pages rather than 1 music for all pages
-members pictures beside their comments/guestbook
-members to create their site and viewable when you click onto their name in the members page
-map showing pins of the city and state (like:  http://www.slide.com/guest_arrange) of each member when     viewing the members page
-webcam capability
-voicemail
-Ability to make our own questions that we would like to know more about family members and friends such as favorite color, collections, etc. that can give us an idea of perfect gifts.
-In member details, allow an area questioning about their kids/husband such as birthdays that will automatically post on the calendar
-allow dragging of sections when changing layouts of website
-allow how many entries to be posted on homepage such as the recipes section that could also be placed with pictures of the food item right on the homepage of our site
-easier uploading of multiple pictures like dragging and dropping
-more customizing easy tools and enhancing the appearance such as adding clickable buttons in the side menu links

Thats all that I can think of.  I love FamilyLobby and I do have to say it is better than the rest of the family sites out there so far.  I think you guys are doing fantastic and I like the idea that you are asking for suggestions to meembers of FamilyLobby.

I'm sorry, but I have no clue what an "rss feed" is or "cms". I love this site bc it is so user friendly to the total pc illiterate people out there such as myself. Can you explain to me what these are?

I have thought of some more suggestions.

1.) The new icon you currently have that indicates a new online message would be nice to use next to other section of the site that have new posts. Many family members would like to see what items are new when they view the home page. So if a new journal entry is listed the icon will indicate that members should look in this location for new posts and information

2.) I would like to be able to add the new games we have available to the ones already listed. It would be nice to select the ones we would like to use by using the feature somewhat like the website layout option. This way we can peruse throught the list of available games and select which ones we would like to add.

3) I think a comment was already made about the other family members chatting on the site. I would be nice to see this on all pages, or at lease have a icon for the chat room when someone decides to log into the chat area.

4.) We would also like to see an option to edit our individual posts, for discussions, journal entries, etc. Many of us would just like to reword something, right now it only gives you an option to delete the entry all together.

5.) As the administrator I would like to see what pages are being viewed by members. So a report for sections or pages most viewed would be nice. I would help me determine what my family likes to do most when they visit the site.

6.)I would also like to see an option that allows us to make changes to the site but not actually post the changes for view until absolutely ready. Say for instance I wanted to set up the site to commemorate someones anniversary or birthday. well I don't want the changes to be posted or seen by potential members until it is actually time for them to see it. So allowing offline changes to the site would be nice. This way you won't spoil the suprise or upset members unnecessarily if you are still in the editting mode.

That is all I can think of for right now. I am sure I'll think of some more later. As always thanks for offering such a wonderful service.

Well, if you look in your user control panel,under preferances, you can select to be notified each time a message is posted or each time a thread is posted

I run a site that is more group oriented than family oriented, so it would be nice if you could include a field that indicates something like "member of".  For instance, my site is hot air ballooning oriented and it consists of members of different balloon crews.

On my family site, it would be nice to see links to brothers or sisters.  Right now, it only shows the member's parents and children, but does not show brothers or sisters.

On the calendar portion of the sites, I have several recurring events.  However, I have one event that occurs every other month on the fourth Thursday.  The sites now only allow you to select every month on the fourth Thursday.

Thank you for the suggestions. We do have a request in place to show siblings, but a release for this has been pushed back to focus on the infrastructure. We have added your suggestions to the request list for a future release.

One other thing I noticed is on the member list the children's listings do not show their location when they are set to live with parents.  It does show the full information if you look at an individual child member.  I like to look at the member list and see how many people (including children) we have from different locations.  Any chance we could get this fixed?  It works well for spouses, but the children do not have thier locations in the member list.

I would also like to suggest that newly updated profiles get added to the list of notifications we can receive via email. Many family members will come in and update their profile with photos or new information from time to time. I would like to see these updates listed when a member logs in so we can see what has changed or been updated. the same thing for comments made to the guest book section or the news topics that are posted. There are currently notices when a new post is made for the news section but not when comments are made to an individual posts. I believe I had made reference to this before but I'm not quite sure. Most members will stop by and only check out the sections that have been updated or have new posts listed. When you have a custom page with new posts this does not get added to the list. I would like to see if this would be possible for a future update release. Thanks again for listening.

it would be nice to have more control over the family tree. especially for those of us that have blended and "special" families. it's hard b/c you don't want to not include someone on the tree, but they might not want to be associated with another person, etc. and some siblings, etc don't have the same last names or parents. it would be nice to be able to arrange the family trees they way you want. also it would be nice to be able to delete family trees, etc.

more templates would be nice. would be nice to be able to add music to pics and different sections/pages. Also, it would be nice to not have the same song playing (looping). also, is there a way of making the site more interactive. like making family games so family members can play together across the web, or team up and compete. this could be a great way for me to connect to my younger siblings who live on the other side of the country.

I think the growing number of templates we have to choose from is awesome!  There are new templates almost every time I look.  My concern about it is that the list is going to become very long and overwhelming.  I'm guessing it would probably be hard to do but if there is anyway that the templates could be broken down into catergories, I think it's going to be very helpful down the road.

Thank you for your suggestions. When it comes to the layout, we allow users to design your own page and set it as the homepage. This allows you to select the location of each section that appears on the homepage and how much space each will take up.

I am new to Family Lobby, but I am quite impressed with what you have to offer.  This site I am working on is my test site for one of my genealogy family groups.  Currently, I pay for 3 fairly large sites with My Family and they are revamping to a similar style, but have their priorities (it seems to me) all out of order, and after many months of beta they are considering "migrating" some of the old sites over without features we currently have on them and find to be necessary.  It sounds as though your site is fairly new, as well, but your support people seem to consider your suggestions with a bit more concern.
I have read through several of the topics and I still have a couple of questions.  In no particular order of priority, they are:
1) I created a custom page, but I do not have the option to make it my home page when I save it.  Do the upgrades allow the option of selecting it to be the "home page"?
2) In the free version, the files section has 4 predefined sections: videos, music, images, documents.  Do the upgrades have the ability to define folders under those headers?  If not, is that possibly on your list of features to come?  We have way too many files to post without being able to categorize them.
3) I have the section backgrounds set to transparent on members home page view, but originally I had this greenish/bluish color for the headers and borders.  When I found the place to set those in the section colors and borders under website layout, the option went away to have them be transparent. So, I finally found a color that will be fairly unnoticed on the background.  My question then is, am I creating the conflict that will not allow all the sections to be transparent?  The header on the homepage is the only one that is transparent at this time. 
4) I have only set up one actual member at this time so I can see what differences there are in the levels of access.  I notice when I login under my daughter, that she has nearly all of the abilities to edit and delete the content/categories as a regular member that I have as the admn.  I see that this has been brought up before, but I would really not want someone to be able to change the look of the site for everyone.  I hope someone can clarify this for me.
5) As I work with getting the tree ready, I had no choice but to accept these "dead ancestors" as members.  Question, do they count toward my 30 member restriction on the free site?
6) Is the ability to upload a family tree in gedcom available on any of the current site options?
7) referring back to 2), can we put a search engine on the sites?
