Cheri H -> You Tube (11/21/2009 5:35:41 PM)

OK, I'm not the most internet savvy person in the world. But is there a way to upload You Tube videos onto my website? My nephew said something to the effect that (and I'm no geek, so he lost me; I can only do my best in trying to explain) you can't upload You Tube videos without some kind of Flash thingy that Family Lobby apparently doesn't have? I'm confused...

Anyway, just to let you understand what I mean, a cousin of mine sent me via my Yahoo e-mail a You Tube video of his son playing football which I thought would be really nice on our [FamilyLobby-based] family website. He said I could put it on there... he wasn't sure how. Well, I tried by using File Downloads when I finally found it using the Help link (I couldn't find File Downloads any other way. I looked it up here on these Forum pages... someone else had the same question, and Tech support said it was on the menu on the left or the top. Well, it isn't on mine. I had to click on the link from a paragraph in the Help section). Anyway, I couldn't do it. Tried through adding it via the Video section. Couldn't do it there, either. Is there a way to put You Tube videos on my website? Or is that not allowed? I've seen them everywhere else. I see them plastered all over people's Facebook pages, for instance, and in e-mails. Why can't I find a way to put them on my Family Lobby website?

Wish I was a little more internet savvy, but I'm trying to learn...

Thanks for any help.

- Cheri

I have been usimg You Tube type videos for quite a while.On the right side of the You Tube page with the video, you will see an "Embed" code box. Right click on the box and click "Select All" from the menu.That should highlite the code. Now right click on the highlited code and click "Copy".Now go to your Family Lobby page you want the video on, such as "Whats New" or whatever. Click an "HTML code" button on the toolbar and then paste the code you copied earlier onto the page. When you unclick that "HTML code" button, you should see the video.Just save your work and your done.You can see an example on my home page athttp://familylobby.com/lonesgraphicssite/default.aspJust scroll down to the lower half of the page.      good luck         Dave

Thanks LoneET2. I will send another request to add an option to embed videos in the Video section.
