Sometimes the thing that limits us most in getting ahead and what we want in life is ourselves. Before you blame everything from your partner and the economy to the neighbor's cat and the phases of the moon, look closer to home at yourself. Are you honestly doing the very best you can with what you have at your disposal, be it knowledge, smarts, time or money? Really, truly, 100%?

Don't waste your talents or resourcefulness nor be quick to lay blame at the door of another.

YES!  I totally agree!  I just finished my memoir, and although it was a huge sacrifice I kept that very thought in mind.  Doing what we should be doing with our talents would make for an amazing world!

Amen to that, Christine! Hey btw, have you seen what Lulu's offering just now? You can get a free book and just pay for the post & packaging. Who did you go with last time and did you like them? I'm not familiar with many self-publishers and someone was asking me who was good.

Lulu is good, I have heard plenty of good things about them.  My sister works at Bridgeport National Bindery so I skipped Lulu and went through her.  They deal with lots of self publishing companies though, including Lulu.

I'm going for the gusto with my memoir, and not self publishing...of course I'm not sure what to do...but I'm giving it my all, lol.

Giving it your all is what counts most! I've got a lot of articles at Cuckleburr about approaching publishers and so on if you need some inspiration when it's all done and dusted.

How often do you feel you're on the brink of something big, so close that you can taste it, and yet you don't give yourself that final push that makes it happen? We rarely question why we self-sabotage and we should.

It could be fear of change. It could be fear of success. It could be fear of succeeding and then failing, only to fall lower than you were prior to your success. It could be fear of what your friends or family will think.

It's natural to have the odd day where you're self-absorbed but don't let it become a habit. Look around you and see what you can do to make the day brighter for someone else. While you're at it, smile! There are many less fortunate than you are and self- pity doesn't make troubles any easier to bear. Appreciate what you're blessed with in life, do a nice thing for another to improve their spirits and your own, and get on with the day.  [:D]

I think this is very true! The more time you have the more you waste. I'm going to make more of an effort not to waste time and do something of value instead. Plopping down in front of a TV show doesn't count. One hour a day is the commitment. [:D]

  • If you can start the day without caffeine. 
  • If you can get going without pep pills.
  • If you can always be cheerful ignoring aches and pains.
  • If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles.
  • If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it.
  • If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time.
  • If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when through no fault of yours  something goes wrong.
  • If you can take criticism and blame without resentment.
  • If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him.
  • If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend.
  • If you can face the world without lies and deceit.
  • If you can conquer tension without medical help.
  • If you can relax without liquor. 
  • If you can sleep without the aid of drugs.
  • .....Then you are probably the family dog!

I run into people who rekindle my spirit all the time. Trouble is, I don't always realize that until they are long gone. Take the time to appreciate those you are blessed with in your life that are always there, cheering you on when you need them to and setting you straight when you need that too. Just because they sit across the table from you or are always on the phone doesn't make them any less valuable than the person who shares an occasionally supportive comment. Our biggest cheerleaders often live in our own houses.

How many times have you second guessed what your intuition told you and made the wrong choice? I think those hunches, feelings and inner knowing that we experience should be given more credence than they are. Trust your instincts and be conscious of noticing how often they are right. The more you do, the more confident you'll become about going with your gut.

However you perceive life, don't let it drag you down. Your thoughts create your reality and what you seek, you'll find. Good or bad. Look for the good and don't waste time go over the could be's or maybe's or what if's. You'll look up and realize you missed what was happening, right then in the moment , the whole day wasted that could have been spent more positively.

I like this quote because it describes me! [:(] I'm the type that will be there and make a mess sometimes of trying to help rather than keep my distance. But luckily, I know they know I mean well.
