highstepnchix, nice to meet you. I'm sorry for your loss. I do believe that your mum knew and will be around you even if you're not aware of that. I think it was only when I became a mum myself that I truly understood the bond between mother and child. I sincerely believe that nothing breaks that...not family rifts, not distance, not even passing over. The connection is always there.
Mums know, trust me, deep down they know they are loved just as a child knows their mum loves them. We don't need to hear it every day. Even though my son and I have our moments of disagreement, so did myself and my own mum. It's all part of growing up and has been that way for generations. It's the circle of life and part of the transition from youth to adulthood. Your mum will know how much you miss her, highstepnchix, I have no doubt of that and she'll wish to comfort you. Watch for small signs for her that she's still close by.
My gran passed many years ago and I always know when she's watching over me in one of two ways. Either I can smell freesias, which was her favorite flower, or I see a tiny white feather. Doesn't matter where I am, that's how she shows me usually in times of great upset or stress. I've found feathers in sinks in works toilets, in indoor plant pots, sat in a hospital waiting room and had a lady pick one off the arm of my chair and give it to me for no apparent reason, one on my dinner tray inflight...small signs like that which would mean something personal to you are what to watch for and also in your dreams.
