Yes this is true! Especially in some countries that don't have divorce as an option and rather have annulment. Some say that they really made the law that way because they want families to stay intact. Sad but true.

Many people stay together even when their marriage is struggling for many reasons, including expenses, for the benefit of their children, taxes, and shame or the exhaustion of going through the paperwork, moving out, and becoming independent.
