I don’t get migraine headaches regularly but it gets pretty ugly when I do get one.  I just go to my room, shut all the blinds till it’s very dark, I don’t like to hear any noise, etc.  Can’t even lie down..  I just get my pain med to try to cut the edge off of the pain.  What I do to avoid getting an attack, since my triggers are from certain food, is avoid too much oily stuff, chocolate, cheese, peanuts.  MSG is also a no-no so I steer away from instant noodles, soups, etc.  What are your triggers?

Oh, thanks.  I never knew MSG can trigger migraine headaches too!  I’ll check on that.  What’s your pain medication, by the way? Is it also fioricet?  That’s what I’ve been taking for heavy attacks and so far, it’s been my best friend.  Not in an addicting way, though.

I get awful headaches from MSG, ouch!  It used to be much more common in the 80's to use it but lots of restaurants have stopped because so many people have had such issues with it.  I stay away from it at all costs.

my triggers ... I don't have to have one of these to get a migraine, but doing this will for sure give me one ... too much sun, too long without eating, and missing my migraine meds! lol

I am on a daily mild antidepressant/chronic pain med to help my migraines, which were knocking me out 3 days a week.  I have been on this medication for about 7 years and I cant say enough good about it.  I tried imitrex and other pain killers over the years, but I hated the fact that I had to GET a headache to treat it.  that just didn't seem like a fair deal to me, why should I have to be in any pain??  I have gone from multiple migraines a week, to maybe a couple a month ... I have been without a migraine since July of this year :::knocks on wood:::

That's great, diane, sounds like that's ideal for you then. I've not had one since I don't know when, thank goodness. I never knew about MSG either...interesting.

Really, ooohhh MSG is awful.  I don't think too many places use it anymore but if feel sick after eating Chinese food, usually a headache, you'll know it was in there.
