Hi all.  I just want to ask if you know of any good way in getting rid of stretch marks?  Few weeks before I give birth, I see that they got really dark.  Is cocoa butter really going to help me?

I have heard that it does.  That's about the only product I've heard that does work.  I think it more the rubbing that does it though, not so much the product you use.  By rubbing you can break down the scar tissue...so they say....

Nothing works. The elasticity of your skin is dependent upon your genetics and nothing else. That's why some women get none and others get loads (like me). Rubbing in lotions and potions doesn't help because they don't penetrate the deepest layers of the skin where the worst damage caused by stretch marks occurs. That's what my doctor told me.

Don't waste your money. I still have mine after twenty years. There's nothing that will repair them. All you can do is wait and in time they'll fade to silvery lines like mine. If you're really self conscious you can use make up to camouflage them that's designed for covering birth marks.

I have heard that scar treatments, like maderma, work.  my surgeon suggested I start using maderma immediately on my incision scar, and the box says it also works on stretch marks.  I havent tried it yet, mostly because the product is very expensive and I have A TON of stretch marks, so I only use it on my scar - lol

Maybe it does diane. You can let us know how that works out for you. :) I'm sharing advice I got 20 years ago right enough now I think about it LOL, so it's possible there are new products.

Or that your doc's just running up your bill to get his cut from the manufacturers....just saying.

lol - I don't know, maybe the doc is getting some kind of kick back, although I buy it at the store and not the doctor's pharmacy.  I do know that it works though, my oldest had a soccer scar on her shin - NASTY - and she hated it.  we tried the maderma for a few months and it is almost gone.  she has a matching one higher up on her thigh that she doesnt use the cream on and it looks nasty still, so we see that it does heal.  of course, my incision still being so new, is supposed to take 6 months before showing signs of improvement - lol  maybe I will work on some of my stretchmarks ... hmmm ... where to start?  I have them EVERYWHERE!  lol

Heck, I might need to change my tune then and get a truckload LOL. I am nothing if not flexible.  That's how I got them in the first place.
