What is everyone doing for the summer? I am at a lost. Having the entire summer off sometimes isn't all it seems unless you can keep yourself occupied. I have signed up for tennis lessons, but I need more things to fill up my calendar. Oh did I also metion that I am on a budget with a 13 y/o. She will be out of town for three weeks, then returning to volleyball and conditioning camp.

What am I going to do??

Journal!  Keep busy by noticing life...colors, moods...etc?  I am not a journal person or a meditation person, but when I do it, holy cow, the difference it makes!

Also maybe volunteer?  I freelance for Parks & Rec and we have lots of volunteers (many un-noticed) who clean up their local parks, plant flowers etc...

I have tons of ideas for keeping busy!  I can probably, literally, think of at least 20 more ideas...

Wow that sounds great. I usually offer free Spanish lessons to kids in the neighborhood. I used to do it with the hope that the other educators in the subdivision would offer as well, but no luck.

I would so love to volunteer at a park or something. Humm Journal keeping sounds like a wonderful idea. Do you use an electronic journal or a book?

this summer I have a surgery scheduled so I'm not sure how much I'm really going to want to do after it.  My husband is taking our oldest daughter to the bahamas as a graduation gift.  they will be gone the last week of July.  we were hoping to squeeze in a week in hawaii, and I wanted to visit family in texas, but we will have to see what the $$ situation is like and how I am feeling.
for sure we will be getting use of the new pool tho :)

Hope your surgery is nothing serious Diane.  Not a very nice way to spend your summer.

We go camping every summer.  We will be heading out the last week of June and coming back the second week of July.  It's something we all enjoy very much and look forward to doing every summer.

Good luck with recovery Diane. Geez can we sort of trade summers, I'll take Bahamas, Hawaii and the Pool!

Wow, Thelma. I have always wanted to go camping, but my fiance just says "NO". He is the type where it has to be something he is interested in doing and there has to be wifi or else he'll just die (think geek squad type).

I'm actually looking for some hiking trails near my area. I have never done it before, but think that I will attemp to go alone this summer. My only worry is it being safe for someone going solo who is new.

I just found the most beautiful hiking trail, right by my house!  I am so excited!

Diane, hang in there, hope it's nothing too serious!

thank you ladies, it's a very routine surgery and I am hoping it only keeps me down a couple of weeks at most.  but the money situation is what concerns me most, then time ... my oldest daughter will be missing part of tryouts for the college soccer team to go to the bahamas.  she is bummed that she has to register for summer classes and then fall starts right up after that - I told her 'welcome to adulthood' lol

I'm back!  Ya'll didn't even miss me did ya!

It wasn't our best camping trip but.........getting away is always nice.

The weather was bad, fishing was bad, the water was freezing, had battery problems, propane problems and truck problems.  Whatever could go wrong, did go wrong.  OH WELL.....there's always next year.  LOL  We still have a week in August we MAY go camping.  We'll see.

Latonya, my husband is a computer geek as well and I still manage to pull him away from his pc each year. he he he  Maybe you could get your bf to go on a weekend and see how he likes it, he might surprise you and/or he might be pleasantly surprised himself!

I'm not sure where you live but I wouldn't recommend hiking alone hon.

she is going to the bahamas the last week of tryouts for college soccer.  the bahamas will be a nice week away, but college is her future and without soccer, it's just less tolerable for her - lol

I'm sorry, do we know you? Thelma who?

Just kidding. Sorry the camping trip wasn't that great! What matter is you were all together. :)

No vacation for me, Latonya. Work, work and more work. I can't even get a day off these days never mind a vacation. But I'm not complaining. If I had no work, I'd be griping.
