What's the general opinion of getting a tattoo?  Before you answer I should say I have four, lol.  Three of the four can't be seen, unless I'm at the beach, but I just got one yesterday on my foot.  I love it!

Tattoos are so popular now that it's not uncommon to have one. I never wanted one until I was older and I was particular. I wanted a delicate design, somewhere that I could cover up if I wanted to and that meant something personal.

I have just one, on my shoulderblade of a twisted rose. You only see that if I wear a strappy top which I do rarely or a swimsuit. Actually it could do with being recolored but it was so painful I'm too chicken to get it done LOL. You're brave getting four.

I'm the same way.  They are all able to be covered easily, and I got them years and years apart.  I'm done now for sure!

I'm not against with tattoos but honestly I'm not favor with it. I don't like men with tattoos, I really don't know why, I just don't like the idea.. Well this is just my opinion..

lia, believe it or not I don't like tattoos on men myself. How hypocritical is that of me LOL. I think it stems back to when I was younger and any guy with a tattoo was either just out of jail or headed that way! That's what I thought anyway. Tattoos = bad news unless you were a soldier or sailor. That was long before they became trendy/acceptable.

I don't mind them. I have several, none you can see unless I want to show them. My boyfriend doesn't have any though, lol.

I love tattoos on men as long as there are no reptiles or gore.  I once saw a beautiful landscape on a mans back with horses running through a valley - absolutely beautiful.
On women I think they should be small, dainty, pretty and easy to cover if needed.
I think tattoos are a great expression of one's self.

I agree with you there, tired. I knew a guy that had a winged Pegasus with a girl flying it on his back and it was a work of art.

They can be amazing for sure.  Mine are simple and all have meaning to me.  I have one on my foot for my Mom, it's in Gaelic and it's my fave!

I think it's a choice and it's a lifetime choice. So if one plans on getting one all she/he needs to do is to be sure about it. :)

Well, one thing you should NEVER EVER do is.... have a husband/wife or girlfriend or boyfriends name tattooed on you.  You never know.  My son did this - big letters across his shoulder blade - now he is getting divorced!!  Yikes!!  My husband has a cute one with the names of our children tattooed in it - really cute and sweet - but never a husband/wife!

I agree! You never know. And while you can always get a talented tattoo artist to cover it up with another design, it's more money and pain too.

I don't know if he actually can - its a seven letter name in like a scroll and large - I don't know if they could but like you said there are very talented artistic people in the field so I am hoping.  I'm sure any future girlfriend would not like it.  Years ago I knew a girl whose husband previously had a girlfriend name Esther and had it tattooed on his arm.  They broke up and now is married to my friend - she hated it so he tried to change it to Mother and now it looks like Mester.

Anytime I've seen a tattoo of a name reworked it's been changed to a design of some kind rather than a word. I'd think changing a word would be really hard!

Good advice!  I'll tell him that - the tattoo parlor will probably do the same.  Maybe like something Cher had going on with the vines that covered her stretch marks!!
