Is it possible to upload photos from the photo gallery that other members have uploaded to the profile pictures in the family tree? I am using the delinked version and I am the administrator, but I am trying to figure out how to put the pictures that family members are uploading to the photo galleries on the profile in the family tree. I have had to copy the picture to my computer then upload to the family tree profile. It would be so much easier if I could upload the picture to the profile.
Also, is their a way in the unlinked version to get the member photos to show up on the family tree without having to upload them separately?
I have a lot of family members and limited photos. They have been uploading lots of photos and I am just trying to figure out the easiest method of updating the family tree photos.

Unfortunately, there is no way to assign pictures directly to the family tree. You must upload it from your system. We do not have plans of adding this in the future.
Delinked is completely detached from members. They are not meant to be linked to actual members of the website. But I will see what can be done about this. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I am still having trouble with uploading pictures for the family tree from pictures that were uploaded my members to their profile. I copied them to a folder on my computer (by right clicking and choosing save picture as). They show up in the folder in my pictures, yet when I click upload picture in the edit screen of the family tree and open that folder, there are no pictures there. I can view them on my computer just fine, they are in the folder, show on front of the folder in the thumbnail in my pictures and everything. I have done this before and it worked fine. I am getting very frustrated. I don't have pictures except the ones they upload. Is it possible when editing the profile in the family tree to be able to select the photo from the member profile in the website? That would make this much easier. I am also having trouble when I click on someone in the family tree, the box comes up with the choices, but when I click on edit profile, nothing happens. I had the same problem this weekend. After I click around a while, one will finally work and then I can go back to the others and they will work. Not sure why that is happening. Just started having that problem this weekend. I read in the archives where it was happening to someone else, but just seemed to stop if I remember correctly.

I am not sure why it would sporadically upload the image. I will send a request to have a support person research the problem. I am unable to reproduce the error. If you can provide specific steps to reproduce this problem, please let us know. Also, if you are receiving an error, please include the error message.

After I wrote, I realized the ones that I had successfuly copied and uploaded to the website were from the photo gallery and not the member profile. Is it because of a different format? The ones from the photo gallery are listed as Paint Shop Photo Album Picture as file type and are opening in JASC paint shop photo when I click on properties and the ones from the member profile are bitmap images opening in Windows picture and fax viewer. Would this cause the problem? There are no error messages. The photos just don't show up in the folder when I open it in browse on the website. I changed the these bitmap images to open in JASC paint shop photo and tried again, but they still do not appear in the folder in browse on the website.

That could be the problem. I recommend uploading JPG files with a .jpg extension.

I always upload my images as jpeg files but I have no control over what the others do when they upload. All those that others had uploaded to the member profile were bitmap images when I copied them. Does the process of uploading them to the member profile put them in a particular format or does the one uploading the picture control that?

It is recommended that you upload the photo in jpeg format, but we allow users to upload any time as their profile picture.

I really hope you will consider allowing a way to upload an image to the family tree from the photo gallery. We just had a reunion and I have alot of pictures of everyone has uploaded to the reunion photo gallery, but if I want to add a picture to the family tree I have to first copy it to my computer from the website and then add it to the family tree. This is very time consuming and would be so much easier if I could select photos from the photo gallery on the website. Thanks so much for considering this.

Thank you for the suggestions. You can save a picture from the photo gallery to your computer, then upload the picture to the family tree. I know you already know this, but there are not too many steps to update the tree picture.
We will try to do this in the future, but it is currently not at the top of our list.
