I wish I could see what's going on here without actually coming here. :o) I have a family website, but would like to see what messages were posted while I'm viewing my family website.

The solution to your suggestion can be an RSS feed.
Depending on what CMS you are using, you may be able to add an RSS block on your site thru your site admin panel
Another option is for you use the subscription option on your profile control panel

Some of my family members would like to post their IM information as part of their profile. Like AIM, Yahoo ID, ICQ, etc. Is there anyway you can add this option as part of the profile for those who would like to share with others?

Thanks for offering such a wonderful resource. Have a great day

If you are using the same software these forums use, your members should already have that option. They just need to go to "My Details". I will still check with the tech support guys, just in case

It seems to be a bit different than what you guys are using in this forum. The profile for a family member in our website will allow you to enter, your name, email address, gender, email, change password, DOB, anniversary date, Date of Death, address and list parent and spouse information. I am currently getting request from family asking to list things like IM ID's (yahoo. AIM, ICQ, MSN...ect) and they are asking if we can enter information that would list what school a person is attending and if that is elementry, middle, high school, college or graduate school. They would like to have a section to add a recent anticipated graduation date, so mumbers can see this information on the calender. Much like the way we are able to add birthdays in a members profile and it shows up in the calender so members are notified.

We would also like to see an option to edit a discussion post after it has been submitted. Right now we only have an option to delete the message all together. Sometimes you only want to update the comment or even add to it. After the comment is submitted , it only show a red X to delete the entry, but no option to edit it.

Some members have expressed a desire to see job title or employer information. Many of our family members are experiencing job and career changes. They would like to see it when they click on a members profile. Now I am not saying that these things have to be on the site. Personally I have been at my present job for some time but it was suggested as a way for other family to network with one another. And since family lobby also has sites for clubs or other member groups, it might be a nice option to add for everyone across the board.

Just some things to consider. Either way I would like to thank you for providing this service. My family has quickly taken a liking to our family forum and would like to see it group into much more.

My family (adults & kids) really love the games and challenging one another.  It would be great if new games would update periodically.

1) I would like the freedom to move my photos around after uploading them (much like myspace offers), so they can be placed in the order I want.

2) I would like the music section set up more like an ipod or mp3, so I don't have just one song play over and over and over.

Over all I love this site as it is!

When I send out a newsletter, the pictures in each section seem to be in alphabetical order so you are always sending the same pictures.  It would be great if we could send out thumbnails of the pictures most recently added, like it does with the recipes, news and discussions.  The pictures are what most of our members come to see and I think they would visit a lot more if they saw that there were new ones in the newsletter.

I would like to be able to put a border around the large Home Page photo. I have found a couple programs to do this, but....it uploads the fram/border and doesn't include the photo. Here is the site I was using:

Thank You!

SUGGESTIONS:
Make it easier to make pictures rotate and place music  to it.  To not have two or more of the same family tree when you write the name more than once.

I have to second this - actually I already asked about it.  To keep our newsletters fresh it would be nice to be able to move them in the photo album but also be able to move them around with a newsletter (product placement)!!!  I really do like all you offer but being able to do this with pics would add so much.  OH and being able to add whatever recipe on the newsletters.  Right now you can only add the newest - if you have 15 recipes it only shows about 4 and you have to choose one of those.  I would like to be able to pick from the recipes I have already listed - not just the most recent!

Oh and I think instead of having the whole recipe showing while we create it - just having the name would allow us to select al ot easier and take up less room.

Thanks for the new games. Is their anyway we can select which ones actually show up on the family site? We are trying to prevent some of the younger family members from going outside of the family forum once they have logged in if at all possible.

I also like the suggestions for the newsletter regarding the new material. It really helps keep the family interested in any new information that gets posted.

I would also like to move some the newsfeed sections on the homepage, much like the way we are able to move the homepage section and the right homepage section. Some family members would prefer to see the daily prayer near the top of the website but it is currently showing on our page's lower left side. It would be nice to be able to select which order the feeds are shown depending on our personal needs.

Thanks again for this wonderful site!

Hello,
Thanks for the opp.  My feedback follows:

-what you think should be improved on the site
Did you know that the descriptions of the user categories is inaccurate?  Did you know that a restricted member can edit sections?  I was alerted to this by our family site's co-administrator.  I was shocked at the capabilities that the membership categories have that are not listed when you click the [?] near the member category option.  Can't find better words to describe other than innaccurate descriptions, false sense of security, misleading.  I know they sound like strong words, but the intention only is to describe and explain the need to have this fixed, please.
I love that you all host a site for our family to connect and appreciate your responsiveness to the feedback and requests for assitance.

-how to attract more users
Good question.  More users to FamilyLobby or our pesonal family web sites?  To Family Lobby:More users might require more admins.  I'm a bit selfish.  Advertising, I guess.  Can you tell me how to have folks from my big family tree spin off into their own site & tree and still be connected to my site.  Like I said, I'm selfish.  I don't want to lose my viewers.  But at the same time, I understand the need to spin off with respect to relationships.  What if on the tree, a person could click on a link to create a "what ever their last name is" web site?  I know the option is on the bottom of the home page.  But on the tree (but very small type font) that's where a person can plainly see the need to create their own family web site.

Attract more users to my personal family site: I need more email addresses and family with computers.  lol.  We are working on beautifying the site and have 3 admins on the admin team who work on site maintenace, beautification, and functionality, adding new members, requests for sections, and issues posted in our site feedback section.  Almost a part-time job for 3 admins.

-any special features you would like to see
That family tree is a killer.  Started with my grandparents.  The more I learned of Grandpa's parents, siblings, etc., the tree got out of control.  I like the one tree that shows all the connections very much.  I call it The BIG TREE.  But, I see that other trees are created automatically.  I understand the tree is fed by relationships, yes.  But, I want to understand, what you guys TECH SUPPORT knows about how the tree works.  I also want the ability to create spin off trees from the big tree.  Currently, I am unable to articulate the tree issues other than it is built on relationships.  If I add my aunt's husband, the program makes him her children's father, which is not necessarily the case.  That is upsetting to some people to see "so and so" though may love so and so, listed as their father.  It is an untrue connection.  If I remove so and so as the father from the person's profile, mom has two spots on the tree.  What kind of malarchy is that?  Help on this one, please.

Other special features:
Want to customize the box (frame) around the different sections that appear on the front page.  Frame options are limited and a bit quirky in terms of too much design and not enough plain classy frames.  Hope that makes sense.

Thanks againa, for the opp.

Overall, I love this site!
